Why do I want all wheel
drive? I live in a dry warm climate.
All wheel drive is a full
time traction system that is effective on dry as well as slick roads and
helps maintain stability and control under most conditions.
It is a benefit in all driving
conditions but of course especially any area where there is snow or rain
including the Northwest, Northeast, Midwest.
Is there an SUV?
The Tribeca 6 cylinder
with optional 7 passenger seating...
Is there a Hybrid> Yes, hopefully in 2013. No details are available. In the menatime the 2012 Imprezaz 2.0i gets 27/36 MPG and the Legacy gets 23/31
Is there a Diesel> Yes
but it is not available in the US.
2.0L Diesels with a manual
transmission are available in other countries but not the US or Canada.
Why?
The potential US market
for a Subaru diesel is small and Subaru is working on other technologies.
Few diesels actually do
well in the US. A gallon of diesel is frequently more expensive than a
gallon of gas.
Diesel in the US isn't as
refined as other parts of the world and the newer, cleaner burning and
quieter diesel engines don't run our stuff.
Subaru diesels around the
world are a 2.0L with a manual transmission - no automatic transmission.
That won't work here... It would have to be auto.
Diesel engines cost a lot
to make and the price of the car would be high.
Subaru is partnered with
Toyota, the hybrid leader, and they don't do diesel here.

The WRX/STI are considered
to be their own model.
The 2012 2.0L 4 cylinder line has been completely remodeled. It is completely different from all previous years
The engine is an all new
2.0L 148hp 4 cylinder with an all new CVT transmission that gets 27/36
MPG! Thats a giant improvement and best in class for an all wheel drive
thats not a hybrid. The manuals get 25/34 MPG
The cars have more interior
room that the 2011s but are almost the same size.
The models are
2.0i 4 door and 5 door,
2.0i Premium 4 and 5 door,
2.0i Limited 4 and 5 door
2.0i Sport Premium 5 door
2.0i Sport Limited 5 door
The Limited model is all
new, with leather. The Sport models replace the Outback Sport.
