new for 2011 redesigned rear left and right headrests - looking out the back  of a 2011 5 door with the new taller rear headrests. They do not block the view	2010 and 2011 rear seat headrests side-by-side. The 2011 is on the right with the shorter posts. The overall height is the same on both - app 11" - but the 11 headrest is app 7.5" and the post is 3.5"
front doors have an easy spot to grip that is especially  good if you need to hold the door for support	close-up of the grip spot on both front doors. Really handy  for seniors that like to hold onto the door for support

 updates and basic history

Made by Fuji (Subaru) in Ota, Japan. Introduced in 1993, the Impreza has consistently been top rated. Over the years is has been available in 2, 4 and 5 door models, with all wheel drive or front wheel drive. Engines offered have been a 1.8L, 2.2L, and 2.0L, after 2002 only the 2.5L.

The 2011 2.5L 4 cylinder line continues much the same as 2010 with a few changes but nothing major.
The models are 2.5i sedan/wagon, Premium sedan/wagon, Premium sedan/wagon with Power moonroof Value Package, Outback Sport wagon.
The Power Moonroof Value Package includes fog lights, all weather pkg, moonroof and replaces the 2010 Premium 'SE' package.
Premium with Moonroof pkg and Outback Sport models get a new stereo with single disc CD player/am/fm, 6 speakers, and hands-free Bluetooth with steering wheel controls, audio streaming, and USB.
Navigation is not available though a new for 2011 Tom-Tom system is expected later in the year on Premium and Outback Sport models, packaged with a moonroof.

Transmissions are the same manual 5 speed, and automatic 4speed Sportshift with no changes announced.
Newtaller rear left and right headrests on all models (see photo above). The front are unchanged.
New on 5 doors- the rear gate trim is now body colored, replaces chromed. see photos below.
New colors includes Marine Blue Pearl and Sky Blue, and new 2 tone for the Outback Sport is Marine Blue Pearl over steel silver accent. Marine Blue is only a shade or two darker than the Newport Blue color it replaces.

Gone on all 5 door hatchback- rear chrome trim on 5 doors has been replaced by body colored trim.  See photos above. The sedans still have the chrome trim

Colors: solid 1 tone colors on Outback Sport  Outback Sport will be available in solid colors for the first time in years, with monotone Sage Green (ivory cloth) and Camillia Red (gray cloth). The obsidian black Outback Sport now comes with ivory tan interior (was dark gray in 2010)
Gone- Newport Blue Pearl is gone, replaced by Marine Blue.

new  to enhance the new car experience, Subaru will send a welcome packet with a guide to owner benefits with company contact info, various websites etc.  However they're not including contact info for your dealer which should be the first place you go for specific questions about operating the car, for service, comments, help, advice etc.
Also new May 2010- request a free 'Badge of Ownership' to put on the car to show and help spread the Love. If you currently have a Subaru, you can get one too. Here's my webpage with photos of the badges and links.

8/810  2011 Impreza 2.5 brochures available.  On the 'trim levels' page the brochure incorrectly states that the Outback Sport has a 4 way power passsenger seat. The 2011 Outback Sport does not currently have this feature - a power seat has never been available on any Impreza. The seat options are correct however on the 'Equipment' page under 'Seating and Trim', indicating manual adjustments. a separate WRX and STI brochure will be available later.
6/28/10  2011s arriving at dealers
6/3/10  2011 prices, options announced. No changes at all on the price of the cars. Destination raised $30 to $725 ($875 to Ak). Cars are expected in late June/July.
4/26/10 2011 Impreza information released: 2.5i, Premium and Outback Sport information released. Orders are now available on those models but no prices or specific models and option have been announced.
WRX, 2.5GT, and STI expected September and info is expected early mid summer

Recommended Maintenance

WARRANTIES

'Brake assist' assists the brake power when the driver cannot depress the brake pedal strongly and the brake power is insufficient. Brake assist generates the brake power according to the speed at which the driver depresses the brake pedal.  Note: When you depress the brake pedal strongly or suddenly, the following phenomena occur. However, even though these occur, they do not indicate any malfunctions, and the brake assist system is operating properly. 1) You might feel that the brake pedal is applied by lighter force and generates a greater braking force. 2) You might hear clicking (knocking) sounds around brake pedal.

Towing	Towing a trailer- is not recommmended with an Impreza and no factory trailer is available. Unofficially, if you are going to tow with an Impreza anyway, check and maintain all fluids and tune-up specs, and keep weight and speeds down, and of course have a reputable hitch installer install it on your car. Warranties might be affected by towing. Towing the car - a flatbed is always recommended when towing your Subaru. A manual transmission can be towed with all wheels on the ground behind a tow truck or motorhome for example, but never with just 2 wheels on the ground.  An automatic should only be towed on a flatbed with all wheels off the ground. In a total emergency it can be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground for a very short distance only, and very slowly. Never with just 2 wheels on the ground
