6/9/2011 turbo boost gauge is now available for 2009-2011 Forester, and WRX/STI 2008-2011. Red lit. Factory installed MSRP on a new car $335. Part price $230. Part #H501SFG500

4/11 Factory orders end for 2011s-
Factory orders are no longer accepted for any 2011 vehicle. This is normal as 2011 model production winds down and starts the shift to 2012,  and also to better manage limited parts and resources after the March 11 earthquake. In late March, some lower volume Outback and Legacy models had been already removed from the order list- manual transmissions, 3.6Rs, uncommon Option Packages.

3/4/2011 NEW Subwoofer/ampoptional starting March 2010 on all models. Fits under driver seat. Has been standard on all Touring models. Was previously available.

11/27/10  spark plug replacement interval   on all 2011 Outback, Legacy, Forester, Impreza 4 cylinder non-turbo, turbo, and 6cylinder, the spark plug replacement interval is now 52,500 miles, 52.5 months, or 84000km. This replaces the 60,000 mile, 5 year interval  This is new, and in maintenance books printed Sept, 2010

2011 Forester

The Subaru Forester is an all-wheel-drive car-based SUV introduced in 1998. Made by Fuji Heavy Industries in Ota Gumma, Japan.
Redesigned in 2009.

For 2011,  the EJ25  engine has been redesigned and named the FB25. Its still a 2.5L but it even looks different - it's a DOHC (double overhead cam) with a chain, a single serpetine belt, and the oil filter is on top of  the engine. It has 170hp but at slightly lower RPM, and sligthtly more torque than previous 2.5Ls.  Its a bit peppier and even seems smoother.  The Touring and Limited models have a new ugraded 4.3" LCD display AM/FM/HD stereo that sounds great, and the Touring has a standard back-up camera (optional on Limited).
All nice upgrades.

Minimum 3yr/36,000 with extended major emission component defect warranty 8yr/80,000 Note Warranties do not cover wear or damage due to abuse, lack of maintenance or competitive driving. Exclusions may apply, wear replacement may be one time. subject to change, correction

Car companies are looking at all ways to meet these new standards and synthetic oil is one way. 2.5 X models Synthetic 0w-20 oil only. 1st oil change required at 3 months or 3,000 miles.  2nd oil change required at 7500 miles or 7.5 months Subsequent oil changes- every 7500 miles or 7.5 months. Note: this is the minimum oil change interval required. It is generally recommended by many in the automotive industry to change the oil every 3750 miles or 3.75 mos. 2.5L XT turbo modelsSynthetic 5w-30 oil only. Turbo maintenance> > Early warranty books: the Subaru maintenance schedule note #1  reads "When the vehicle is used under severe driving conditions, the engine oil and filter should be changed every 3,750 miles or 3 3/4 months. PZEV a brief simple summary PZEV is NOT available on XT models	(a brief, simple summary) The EPA says PZEV is the cleanest running gas car on today's market based on emissions testing for carbon-containing compounds, oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter, and other tailpipe nastiness. What it does 1. A charcoal cannister catches unburned gas left in the engine when it's turned off so it doesn't just evaporate.  2. Fuel injectors close tighter when they're not in use. 3. It has a finer mesh in the catalytic converter, as well as optimized placement of precious metal. 4. The engine's electronic brain is set to run hotter at start up so the catalytic converter heats up and works faster.

Towing	Towing a trailer with trailer brakes: 2,400 pounds without trailer brakes or when pulling up long grades in hot weather: 1,000 pounds Use common sense and don't overload the car. Digital radio broadcast signal for improved clarity

HD radio is new for Subaru and only offered in the 2011 Forester Limited and Touring models, and Subaru is the first Japanese car company to offer it.
Other automakers offering HD Digital Radio receivers include Audi, BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Land Rover, Lincoln and Mercedes.

The ‘HD’ in ‘HD Radio’ is part of iBiquity Digital’s brand name for its digital AM and FM radio technology.
It does not mean either hybrid digital or high definition, it is simply the branding language for this new technology.
HD Radio broadcasting is free, there are no subscription fees.
You can get digital AM and FM stations, including HD2 and HD3 multicast channels.

HD2 multicasting means more FM channels and new programming available from local FM stations, which you can only hear on your new HD Radio receiver.
Across the country, local FM stations are offering a wide variety of new formats on their HD2 channels: reggae, blues, classic jazz, future country, new alternative, deep tracks, bluegrass and local artists.
The service includes iTunes Tagging. iTunes Tagging lets you capture information about a song on the radio and store it on your iPod by pushing the "Tag" button on the HD Radio receiver. When your iPod is connected to iTunes, a list of tagged songs will appear which can be previewed, purchased, and downloaded.
