New For 06 Outback subject to change, correction Updates 11/1/05 Subaru announces 2 new models. The all new Outback 2.5i SE special edition and the return of the Outback 2.5i Limited sedan. 9/29/05 Subaru announces the return of the cloth model Outback XT that was originally discontinued for the 2006my, available late, starting Ocotber 2005. More information below of course. June 2005: After the major re-design for the 2005 model there are only a few changes for the 2006s available starting early-mid July 2005. 2.5i model upgrades include more power and standard immobilizer key, larger wheels and air filtration. The passenger airbag on/off and seatblet warning lights have been moved to the overhead console.  The 2.5i really is very well equipped for 2006. The base cloth interior XT turbo model has been dropped, replaced with a new base cloth interior 6cylinder model simply called the 3.0R wagon. Navigation is finally available on a few models.  Prices are up slightly over 2005. new for 2006 passenger airbag on-off light and seatbelt lights moved to overhead console from the information center.  The Info center (right) has clock ('set' buttons) and Trip Computer ('disp' button) with Instant and Average Fuel Economy, Outside Temperature and Elapsed Time.  Here and Gone gone base cloth interior XT wagon has been dropped (re-introduced Oct 2005) new model: 6cylinder now available in a new cloth model called the 3.0R wagon new name: 3.0R sedan renamed the 3.0R LL Bean sedan. 4 cylinder model re-introduced 11/05. new horsepower on the 2.5i 2.5L 4cylinder models now 175@6000rpm, torque to 169@4400 newNavigation System optional on XT and 3.0R models, standard on VDC (see below) new all models have 17" alloys new all models have air filtration new all models immobilizer key new more colors available mono-tone new destination charge now $625 (was $575) 3.0R Outback LL Bean 6 cylinder sedan,  also available with Navigation or 4 cylinder More photos The Outback is classed as a light truck for CAFE fuel economy reasons. 'Cafe' stands Corporate Average Fuel Economy. This doesn't affect safety, economy or mean the car will tip over or be unsafe like a SUV.
