What is a Legacy and Outback?

The Legacy is a line of cars with 2 models: Legacy and Outback sharing the same body (wagon or sedan).
Made by Subaru in Lafayette, Indiana

There are many versions of the Legacy and Outback.
Legacy starts with the Legacy 2.5i, upgrading to the 2.5i Limited. The Legacy GT is the performance model, upgrading to the GT Limited.
The Outback is our rugged road model. It is a version of the Legacy. It starts out with the Outback 2.5i. The Outback 2.5i upgrades to the Outback 2.5i Limited. The Outback XT is the turbo performance version of the Outback, comparable to Legacy GT, and it upgrades to the Outback XT limited. The 3.0R H6 LL Bean wagon and VDC wagon and sedan are out top of the line models and they have the 250hp H3.0L 6 cylinder.

This is the 4th generation Legacy. The 3rd was 2004-00, 2nd was 1999-95, and the 1st generation was 1994-90

The 05 is a dramatic change from previous years :: all new look :: more refined ride :: all models have full front and rear and side curtain airbags.
Focus on comfort with such features as dual zone climate control and dual power seats.
New performance GT model
All Subarus continue to be all wheel drive and the wagon is still the most popular model, but Subaru is expanding and changing.

The standard Legacy is the 2.5i, available as a wagon or sedan
(there is also an Outback 2.5i on the Outback page)
