this photo shows the special windshield used on Eyesight models. Notice the wiper just clears the passenger side camera. The sunblock, tint band, and sunvisor on Eyesight cars are all smaller. the Moonroof package includes a rear view camera that displays in the auto dimming rear view mirror with homelink on Premium models, but there's no compass like in previous year. On the Limited, the camera displays in the large stereo screen, not on the mirror	the auto dimming rear view mirror with compass and homelink is only available without a Moonroof or Navigation (nav unit has a compass). There is no compass on the mirror that comes with Moonroof or Navigation packages, but a new mirror with compass and homelink can be added by the dealer on cars without the moonroof or navigation. Updated April 2013: a replacement dimming rear view mirror is now available with both compass and Homelink. Its only available as a dealer installed replacement on moonroof models that came with the dimming mirror with homelink only.

6/17 XM satellite radio upgrade on 2013 and 2014 models purchased on or after June 17th purchases
Any 2013 or 2014 model year cars with factory installed satellite radio purchased on or after 6/17/13 will get XM All Access free for 4 months (dealer installed satellite is free for 3 months). This is an upgrade over the XM Select package previously included for 4 months, and includes all the premium channels including NFL and Nascar radio, Howard Stern, and XM internet radio for home computers, tablets, and smartphones. Satellite radio is included with all 2013 AND 2014 Navigation systems, all Outback and Legacy Limiteds, Forester Tourings, and all Tribecas. 5/14/13 recall- 5,379 2013 Outbacks and Legacys might have a steering column shaft that was not correctly assembled that could possibly lead to a steering failure.
Not all vehicles in the VIN range will be affected. The VIN range for Legacy is D*002001-003605, the the Outback is D*200001-204233.
Owners will be notified 5/14/13 by mail and email which is why its important to make sure Subaru always has your current contact information. This is steering column recall #WQI-45

3/23 Aha upgrade be available April-December 2013 on 2013 Outback and Legacy with navigation built prior to 1/18/13
Upgrade program to run April-December 2013. Aha is by Harman Kardon. You put the Aha app on your Android or iPhone phone (not Blackberry or Windows, though that can change) and it channels content to your navigation. Starlink/Aha is now standard on 2013 Outback and Legacy with navigation starting with January 18, 2013 production but it can now be added to 2013 Outback and Legacy with navigation built prior to that date. Download Aha, its free, from either iTunes or Google Play. Your Subaru dealer will do the upgrade of the navigation unit. The Aha upgrade program runs April-December 2013. The cost to upgrade your navigation is $100. Subaru will contact owners.

3/2/13 Outback and Legacy orders end Monday March 4th. If you intend to special order a 2103 Legacy or Outback, you have until close of business on the 4th. Typically new models arrive in June/July. No word on any changes.

1/10/13 Prices updated with new Aha audio integration system. It uses your phone to funnel content to the car. Standard on, and available only on, navigation models, the price increase is $100 MSRP. Available for ordering now, with delivery starting February. Option Packages #08, #20, #23 have been replaced by packages #18, #28, #35
12/22 IIHS crash test give the new Top Safety Pick+ rating to the 2013 Legacy and Outback built after August 2012, and 11 other cars.
"IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal, or poor based on performance in a moderate overlap frontal crash, small overlap frontal crash, side impact and rollover, plus evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts.
To qualify for the 2013 Top Safety Pick+ award, vehicles must earn good ratings for occupant protection in at least 4 of 5 evaluations and no less than acceptable in the fifth test. To qualify for the 2013 Top Safety Pick award, vehicles must earn good ratings in the moderate overlap frontal test, side impact, rollover and rear tests, regardless of their rating in the small overlap frontal test.

12/6/12 Aha radio- Aha is by Harman/Kardon and funnels music, radio stations, even audio books through your phone to the car's Navigation system. It will be on the 2014 Forester, and 2013 Legacy and Outback in early 2013. Navigation is required.
11/10/12 Brilliant Brown Pearl color no longer available to factory order on Outbacks. It was a new color this year and only available on the 2013 2.5 and 3.6 Outback Limited with the Special Appearance Package. Initially it was only going to an option through August but it continued to be an available to order through early November. Its no longer listed as an option on new orders which means the Special Appearance Package can now only be ordered in white or black. There are still Brilliant Brown Special Appearance Package Outbacks for sale on lots however, and some more are coming in, but if you want a Brilliant Brown colored Special Appearance Package Limited, now is the time to look for best selection and price.
11/9/12 Option packages updated to include new Aha radio/phone/internet integration available early 2013. Aha is only available with Navigation packages #18 (Nav, moonroof, aha), #28 (nav moonroof, eyesight, aha), and #35 (Special Appearance package with nav, moonroof, aha). Available early 2013.

9/21/12 The 2013 Outback Limited Special Appearance Package in the brilliant brown color continues to be available. Initially it was reported that the color would only be produced through August.
8/28/12- brochure error on Outback brochure printing date 6/12 on the lower rear. Pg 19 with the security features at the top. The error is the PASSIVE SAFETY section, the 'Subaru advanced frontal airbag system' shows as not available on the base 2.5i model. That's incorrect. It is standard on all models. This will be corrected on later printings of the brochure.

5/18/2012 2013 colors released and 2013 models can be ordered. Prices not announced yet. The new Twilight Blue and Venetian Red colors are available with either off-black or warm ivory interior. Its been a long time since Subaru has offered two interiors with the same color.
4/4/12 The 2013 Outback debut at the New York International Auto Show.
3/30/12 the final day for 2012 model year factory orders for all Outback, Legacy, Forester, and Tribeca models.
3/29/12 The 2013 Outback Details were announced a few days before the start of the NY Int'l Auto Show.
3/6/12- Factory orders on all 2.5L manual transmission and all 3.6L models no longer accepted.
The 2013s are expected to be available starting in late June/July.

> new the Hill Holder function is now turned on when you restart the car if it was left on when the car was last turned off.
> new 2.5L engine: improved economy +1mpg, and slightly more power. The new 2.5L engine was first used in the 2011 Forester. It's a DOHC (double overhead cam) with a little more power- 173hp vs170hp and 174lb-ft of torque vs 170lb-ft at 4100rpm, and a timing chain with no scheduled replacement instead of a timing belt with a 105,000 mile replacement. Fuel economy with the 2.5L and CVT is up 1 MPG to 24/30/26 city/highway/combined.
The 3.6L engine remains the same with no changes.
> new CVT- 2nd generation CVT is lighter, quieter, more responsive than the 1st version used from 2010-2012. The 3.6L 5 speed automatic remains the same
> new upgraded chassis and suspension. All models get improved ride, handling and steering due to upgraded body structure with stiffer front strut mounting points and rear frame rails, upgraded suspension that includes a larger rear sway bar, slightly stiffer rear springs and bushings, and upgraded steering. The result is a more responsive car with improved handling and steering and less body sway.

> new fuel cutoff system that detects an airbag deployment and cuts off the fuel pump to minimize fire danger after an accident
> new brake override system (BOS)- when gas and brake pedals are both pressed, the brake overrides and stops the car. To prevent operator error unintended acceleration
> new - the auto dimming rear view mirror with back-up camera display that comes with the the moonroof pkg includes Homelink but no longer includes the compass.
> redesigned- handles in the rear seat backs to fold them flat or recline them

The new Crossbars with two positions
The 2.5i base model finally has USB and bluetooth.
The new engine with timing chain, no timing belt to replace
The new optional rear seatback protectors are a very good option
Limited's new electro-luminscent dashboard is attractive, the center digital info display is fun
That the rear bumper cover is still a sturdy step-pad and not the new clear vinyl 'applique' like on other Subaru models.
The new Navigation is a big improvement over previous years though the voice activated phone dialing functions are tricky
Improved handling. The steering is a bit heavier than previous years and that's good. There's still a bit of brake dive but its minor.
>Special Appearance Package- I like pretty much everything about the S.A. Package ... the saddle brown leather, the push button start, and especially the long overdue power memory seats and turn signal mirrors. Maybe next year those 2 things will be on all Limiteds. Just being cautious regarding pushbutton start, but I wish there was a back-up method to start the car when without a keyless key being present (ie when lost). Some folks don't like the new dark wood trim, but its just trim. The S.A. Pkg isn't available with Eyesight yet but that will also change in coming years

> Eyesight. Is good but a bit high tech for me, and could be more of an overall safety package with blind-spot detection and turn signals in the outside mirrors- no doubt those are future additions

Colors- The new Twilight Blue with gray interior and off-black cloth or leather is a good replacement for the sky blue.

Being neutral about
the new front grill, the new seat material, the new alloy wheels... all are ok

Rain sensing front wipers,

Self-registering tire pressure monitors
Splash guards that are larger so they work better
When freezing outside, the outside temp gauge should turn bright blue
Replace the dashboard Eco gauge with an engine temperature gauge
The new rear seat AC vents should also blow warm or hot air, not only cold or cool (it cuts out at app 75*)
A standard retractable cargo compartment separator/dog guard built into the cargo cover like Audi has (had?)

Color kookiness: just pick one- twilight blue and venetian red are available in both beige interior with warm ivory cloth or leather, or gray interior with off-black cloth or leather. too dark, just pick one.
The new Brilliant Brown is way too dark though its very pretty in the sun
