2015 2.5i model has a 17" stamped steel wheel with plastic center cap unless it has the optional alloy wheel/roof rail value package (CVT models only).	2015 17" alloy wheel, optional on the 2.5i, and standard Premium and Limited
new for 2015- 2.5 Touring gets this new silver 18" alloy wheel	XT Premium and Touring 18" machined alloy
All 2.5 CVTs have L-D transmission control. L is Low mode, and is the only option other than Drive. There is no manual control available on 2.5 models, and is the first Forester without it. It means the driver can't control or get more power when needed for passing on hills or 2 lane roads, or for towing a trailer, driving on camping or snowy roads etc. All previous year Foresters have had controllable transmissions for safety and performance. If you think Subaru should put Paddle Shifters with manual control back on the 2.5 model, please voice your concern to Subaru's customer support at 800 SUBARU3 (800 782-2783)	2.0 XT CVTs have M-D for Manual and Drive modes, giving the driver the option of full transmission control for those times when more power is needed, or more control for snowy or logging roads. It is used with the standard Paddle Shifters. This very important safety feature is on XT models only, and not available on 2.5 models at all.

the 2 heated seats buttons on a Premium (part of the all weather pkg, optional on Premiums) . No center X-mode buttons. X-mode is a low speed computer controlled program for slippery roads and must be turned on under 12mph, and turns off over 25mph.

XT models have SI drive with 3 settings on 2 buttons- I intelligent/S sport, and I intelligent/S# sport sharp. Sport# is for sportiest driving and quickest engine and transmission response. SI drive also determines whether the CVT has 6 speeds (in S mode), or 8 speeds (in S# mode)
The 2.0XT turbo CVT is fully controllable when needed for safety and performance, via steering wheel paddle shifters. There are 6 or 8 speeds, determined by SI Drive I/S (6) and S# (8). Downshift paddle shift shown. Unfortunately the 2.5 X model CVT is not fully driver controllable.	Only the 2.0XT CVT is driver controllable when needed, via steering wheel paddle shifters. Up paddle shift shown

3 keys- 2 with remote, 1 valet key. standard cut key, replacing the laser cut of previous years. Its now easy to make a spare emergency key that opens the door. Keyless access pushbutton start key standard on Touring models. Shown with emergency door key partly removed. CONTACT YOUR DEALER WITH YOUR VIN FOR THE PART	disable the Forester's keyless access proximity key in order to hide it in the car when camping, swimming, skiing, biking: remove the emergency key to carry with you to get back in the car (yes the alarm will go off when you open the door until you unwrap the proximity key), wrap the proximity key in foil, then hide it and hope no one finds it and steals the car.

optional Sport grill

optional approach lighting is a little LED light in the 2 outside mirrors that illuminates the side of the car and the door handle. It comes on when the car is unlocked or a door is opened. In this image the interior map light is on for reference, but you can see how the door and handle is lit	Here's the approach light on during the day because a door is open. Its a small but bright LED that's on when a door is opened or unlocked with the remote. It even actually has a small Subaru logo on the glass. The outside mirrors also automatically darken when the bright lights from a following car hits the auto dimming rear view mirror. The dimming function of the outside side view mirrors is activated by the rear view mirror.
ALL NEW FOR SUBARU the entire center is dark! This a really nice option for those of us who don't like bright lights in their eyes at night, and is a first for Subaru. The center of the dimming outside side view mirror with approach lighting darkens automatically when the rear view mirror detects a bright light approaching from behind at night. In this photo the white arrow point to the darkened area, the black arrow points to the mirror's edge which doesn't darken	center console storage- white arrows point at the pen clips on both sides, the business card/pad/parking sticker holder, USB/aux jacks. 2015, 2014 Subaru Forester- the top of the rear bumper is 25 1/4" high. The manual rear gate on X & Premium opens to 70.5" high. Hand measured	the passenger seat is fixed at 28" high. Very tall passengers might find headroom tight, esp on moonroof models. There is no height adjustment on the 2014 passenger seat like there was on the 2013. Hand measured.
The driver's seat goes 14.5"-24" from the brake pedal. Shown at 14.5" which is really close. Hand measured.	Even the longest legs will be comfortable. The front seat to the brake pedal is 14.5"-24". Shown at 24" The steering wheel telescopes in/out from 25.25- 26.5", and tilts up/down from 19-21" high. All hand measured.

2015 WARRANTIES

the roadside assistance phone number is on drivers window, also on 2 wallet cards included with the owners manual. Good for 36months, 36000 miles

Bumper to bumper: 3 year/36,000 miles.
Wear Item warranty 3 year/36,000 miles, covers premature wear: brakes, clutch linings, remote batteries, wiper blades (one time replacement) etc.
Roadside assistance 3yr/36000 miles by the Cross Country Motor Club at 800 261-2155, break-down, lock-out, flat repair etc
Powertrain: 5 year/ 60,000 miles
Corrosion, rust perforation: 5 year/100,000 miles
Emission: warranties vary by emission system and state. Minimum 3yr/36,000 with extended major emission component defect warranty 8yr/80,000
Note Warranties do not cover wear or damage due to abuse, lack of maintenance or competitive driving. Exclusions may apply, wear replacement may be one time.

2015 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
-

Always....
Always let a cold engine briefly idle as the oil circulates.
Avoid hard acceleration on a cold engine.
Check the oil between changes

2.5L models: 0w-20 synthetic oil. CVT uses C-30 CVT fluid (blue)
2.0XT models: 5w-30 synthetic oil. CVT uses High Torque CVT fluid (orange)

2.5 X models Synthetic 0w-20 oil only.
2.0XT turbo models Synthetic 5w-30 oil only.

note: new on all 2015 models 1st oil and all subsequent oil change required at or by 6,000 miles or 6 months. The 2014 oil change interval was 7,500 miles or 7 mos.
Note: this is the minimum oil change interval required.
Under severe driving, check your oil at least every 2nd fuel fill-up and change your engine oil more frequently. If your oil consumption rate is greater than 1 quart every 1,200 miles or 1 liter every 2,000 kilometers, contact your Subaru dealer who may perform a test under controlled conditions.

Cabin air filter every 12mos/12,000 miles
Tire rotations: every 6-10,000 miles. Equal tread required at all corners. Tires, wheels FAQ

5/15/13 SAFETY NEWS the 2014 Forester gets top crash test rating from the IIHS in all five tests- Front moderate overlap, Side, Rollover, Rear and the new Front small overlap.
The IIHS rates vehicles as Good, Acceptable, Marginal, and Poor.
Of the vehicles tested in all 5 crash tests (Front moderate overlap, Side, Rollover, Rear and the new Front small overlap) only the 2014 Subaru Forester was rated Good in all tests.

The 2nd best rated was the Mitsubishi Outlander with Good on all except the Front small overlap with a rating of Acceptable. BMW X1, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX5, VW Tiguan, Buick Encore, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Patriot, Kia Sportage all were also rated Good on all except the Front small overlap but they all received a lower safety rating of Marginal. The Nissan Rogue received a good rating in 3 or 5 test, Acceptable in the rollover test, and Marginal in the Front small overlap test.

Pre-Collision Braking can recognize an impending collision, alert the driver and even automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision or minimize the impact when a collision is inevitable.
The EyeSight cameras and electronic control units analyze objects on the road ahead, measure the distance to the object and compare the object’s speed to the EyeSight vehicle’s speed. Only once EyeSight has locked onto an object on the road ahead, if the system recognizes a potential collision, will Pre-Collision Braking activate.
There are three stages of operation that may occur in rapid succession:
Initial Warning – The Multi-Function Display in the top center of the instrument panel will show an image of a white vehicle icon representing the vehicle that has been detected and a warning display, and a series of short beeps will sound. These warnings tell the driver to take action. No braking or other vehicle control functions are activated in this first stage
First Braking Application – If there is no driver intervention – such as steering around the obstacle or braking – Pre-Collision Braking will immediately and automatically apply the brakes. (Note that whenever the brakes are applied, the brake lights illuminate.) If this braking is not sufficient, the audible alert and instrument panel displays will continue to issue warnings
Second Braking Application – If there is still no driver intervention, the brakes are immediately and automatically applied harder, and the system will issue a continuous warning sound. The driver can still take action to avoid a collision, but EyeSight is now warning that a collision is imminent

Pre-Collision Brake Assist. If EyeSight® recognizes an impending collision and the driver is applying the brakes but not with enough force, Pre-Collision Brake Assist automatically applies up to full braking pressure in order to try to shorten braking distances.
Note- this feature does not replace Brake Assist, which is standard on all Subaru models, but rather enhances Brake Assist by adding an extra level of information to determine when to apply full braking. These features are helpful because in emergency braking situations, many drivers simply do not apply full braking pressure.
If a vehcile has been detected, the multi-function display in the top center of the instrument panel will show an image of a white vehicle icon, a warning displays and a series of short beeps will sound. When the driver applies the brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle or object ahead, EyeSight continues to measure the closing distance, vehicle speed and brake application. If EyeSight determines that sufficient braking pressure has not been applied to avoid impact with the vehicle ahead, it will provide full braking pressure. After the vehicle has stopped, a ready light flashes and audible beeping warning occurs. At that point, the driver must apply the brake to remain stopped.
If EyeSight determines that evasive actions have been taken, based on information from a steering angle sensor and other input, Pre-Collision Brake Assist will be cancelled

Pre-Collision Throttle Management helps prevent drivers from accelerating into a stopped vehicle or other obstacle in front of them. It warns the driver and reduces engine power until he or she applies the brakes to avoid an impact.
EyeSight® analyzes the object ahead, and measures the distance to the object as well as vehicle speed and throttle position. If it determines that the throttle opening will result in an impact, Pre-Collision Throttle Management:
Displays a warning on the instrument panel, sounds a repeated series of short beeps and can significantly restrict the throttle so that vehicle acceleration will be reduced

Lane Departure and Lane Sway Warning
Lane Departure alerts drivers when they unintentionally move out of their travel lane. It takes no corrective vehicle action other than issuing visual and audible warnings. Lane Sway Warning acts in a similar way, detecting unusual back and forth vehicle movement within the lane of travel. That movement can be indicative of a drowsy driver.
EyeSight® analyzes the lane markings on the road ahead, including the road’s centerline and shoulder markings. If it determines that the driver is deviating from the normal lane of travel, it displays a warning on the instrument panel and issues six short beeps as an alert. This feature relies on EyeSight’s recognition software as well as input from the brakes, steering and throttle sensors, and the turn signals.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Sway Warning only operate at speeds over 32 mph.
Lane Departure and Lane Sway do not work when the turn signal is used and for a brief time afterward the steering wheel is turned significantly, the brake pedal is depressed, or the accelerator is fully depressed. Because Lane Departure and Lane Sway Warning rely on EyeSight’s ability to recognize lane markings and road shoulders, this function may not operate when there are no lane markings or they are very worn, the lane markings are a similar color as the road surface, there is very little contrast between the road surface and the shoulder
Lane Departure and Lane Sway Warning should be turned off in situations where EyeSight might become confused by road markings, such as tire tracks on a wet or snow-covered road, repaired road surfaces with significant contrast between the repair and the original pavement, harsh shadows on the road from guard rails, or bright transitions in road surfaces, such as when leaving a tunnel

Adaptive Cruise Control combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead by EyeSight, and it issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed.
Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. It does not replace conventional cruise control, which can still be used when desired.
EyeSight’s cameras and object-recognition software measure the distance to the lead vehicle and the speed difference between vehicles and can slow the EyeSight vehicle to keep a safe gap in travel. If a slower lead vehicle moves out of the lane ahead or exits, the system automatically accelerates back up to its set speed. In other words, it tracks vehicles in your travel lane and automatically maintains a gap between you. It can even bring the EyeSight vehicle to a complete stop if the lead vehicle comes to a stop, such as during a sudden traffic jam.
However, the Forester EyeSight system does not have a “stay stopped” feature as found in Legacy and Outback models. This is because Forester does not have an electronic parking brake. The Forester driver is responsible for keeping the vehicle stopped in this situation.

Lead Vehicle Start Alert alerts the driver when his or her vehicle remains stopped after a vehicle in front has started to move away.

Forester Eyesight Details
The twin video cameras’ field of view is 25 degrees horizontally from the center of the windshield. Unlike human vision, EyeSight has no peripheral vision
The twin video cameras’ field of vision extends up to 260 feet in front of the vehicle, but objects very close to the vehicle may not be detected
EyeSight works to recognize obstacles within a 19 mph (or less) speed differential. Essentially, EyeSight needs time to recognize an object or potential obstacle. If the speed difference between the EyeSight vehicle and the object is greater than 19 mph, the object will likely not be detected
Sun glare, foul weather, a dirty windshield or even a thin coating of frost or ice will hinder or even cancel EyeSight operation. If you’re having a hard time seeing out of the windshield, so will EyeSight
A cracked windshield, oil film on the glass or reflections may impede the performance of EyeSight
EyeSight may not recognize low-contrast objects, those with regularly spaced patterns or horizontal lines, backlit objects, very small objects (less than 3 feet tall) or complex-shaped vehicles, such as cement mixers or car-carrier trucks
EyeSight becomes operational about 7 seconds after the engine is started
There is a time delay of several seconds between when an object enters the field of view of EyeSight, when the software recognizes it and when an alert or action is initiated
Non-approved vehicle accessories, such as hood protectors, and water-repellent glass coatings should not be used with EyeSight-equipped vehicles, since they may hinder its operation
Do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses inside the vehicle. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue

Hill descent control is activated with X-mode and uses VDC engine throttle management and brakes to help maintain vehicle speed when going downhill at low speed. When activated, the system will maintain the speed it was set at.
