Break-in period  for the first 1000 miles
Don't race the engine, keep RPMs under 4,000 for the most part and vary the speeds with normal city/highway driving.
2.5L models- the first oil change is required at 6000 miles or 6 months. Its recommended to do it around  3months/3,000 miles.
3.6R  models- the first oil change is required at 3months/3,000 miles.

Always....
Always let a cold engine briefly idle as the oil circulates.
Avoid hard acceleration on a cold engine.
Check the oil between changes

Some engine oil will be consumed while driving. Under the following conditions, oil consumption can be increased and thus require refilling between maintenance intervals:
> When the engine is new and within the break-in period
> When the engine oil is of lower quality
> When the incorrect oil viscosity is used
> When engine braking is employed
> When the engine is operated at high engine speeds
> When the engine is operated under heavy loads
> When towing a trailer
> When the engine idles for long periods of time
> When the vehicle is operated in stop and go and/or heavy traffic situations
> When the vehicle is used under severe thermal conditions
> When the vehicle accelerates and decelerates frequently
Under these or similar conditions, you should check your oil at least every 2nd fuel fill-up and change your engine oil more frequently. If your oil consumption rate is greater than 1 quart every 1,200 miles or 1 liter every 2,000 kilometers, contact your Subaru dealer who may perform a test under controlled conditions.

Oil-
2.5L models- 0w-20 synthetic oil is required.
3.6L models- 5w-30, regular oil is ok, synthetic is recommended

Oil and filter change:  every 6 months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. Under severe, hard, very cold or very hot weather driving, change more frequently.
Cabin air filter every 12mos/12,000 miles
Tire rotations: every 6-10,000 miles. Equal tread required at all corners. Tires, wheels FAQ
Timing chain all Outbacks have a timing chain - no replacement needed

6,000 miles/6 mos oil and filter change, rotate tires. Change more frequently with hard/severe driving or conditions
12,000 miles/12 mos inspection, tire rotation, replace cabin air filter,
18,000 miles/18 mos oil and filter change, rotate tires
24,000 miles/24 mos  inspection, oil and filter change, rotate tires, replace cabin air filter
30,000 mile replace engine air filters, brake fluid, and gear fluid as needed, oil and filter change, rotate tires
36,000 miles/36 mos oil and filter change, rotate tires, replace cabin air filter
42,000 miles/42 mos  oil and filter change, rotate tires, replace cabin air filter
48,000 miles/48 mos oil and filter change, rotate tires, replace cabin air filter
60,000 miles/60 mos repeat 30,000 service, replace spark plugs/wires
90,000 miles/90 mos service with complete fluid, filter change. Inspect all hoses, belts
120,000 miles/120 mos repeat 30,000 service, replace spark plugs
137,500 miles replace Super Coolant Radiator Fluid. The 1st replacement is 11 years, 137,500 miles, or 220,000Km. The 2nd replacement is 6yrs, 75,000 miles

CVT Transmission: Life Time CVT oil should not need to be replaced unless driven under hard conditions, towing etc-change every 24,855 miles. Note- there is no CVT oil dipstick. 
Radiator fluid is Super Coolant, with 11 year, 137,500 mile replacement schedule.
