Made by Fuji (Subaru) in Ota, Japan. Introduced in 1993, the Impreza has consistently been top rated. Over the years is has been available in 2, 4 and 5 door models, with all wheel drive or front wheel drive. Engines offered have been a 1.8L, 2.2L, and 2.0L, after 2002 only the 2.5L until the new 2.0L with CVT transmission was introduced in the 2012 models.

. New Car break in period- 1,000 miles- keep RPMs mostly under 4000, vary speeds with a normal mix of city and highway driving, avoid hard starts/stops, let the engine idle briefly before driving. Be nice to it... it's new. Oil- 0w-20 synthetic oil is required (5.3 qts) Spark plug-  NGK SILZKAR7B11 1st oil change required at 6,000 miles or 6 months. Check the oil at 3mo/3000 miles.   Oil change: at least every 6,000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first, use 0w-20 synthetic oil only Tire rotation 6,000 miles or 6 months. Equal tread is required on all tires 12,000 miles or 12 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 30,000 miles or 30 months: Replace brake fluid and engine air filter. Inspect and replace other fluids, belts, hoses, spark plug wires as needed. 36,000 miles or 36 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 42,000 miles or 42 months: change engine oil and filter, and cabin air filter 48,000 miles or 48 months: minor service, replace cabin air filter. Inspect fluids and engine air filter as necessary. 54,000 miles or 54 months: change engine oil and filter, and cabin air filter 60,000 miles or 60 months: Replace spark plugs. - 2015 Impreza Safety Features -
front passenger airbag is on or off based on occupant weight (app 80lbs) EDR, Event Data Recorder information.  In the event of an impact, the EDR will freeze data including how various systems were operating, for example if seatbelts were buckled, if the gas or brake pedals were pressed, and vehicle speed. No personal data is stored. To read data, special equipment is required. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer (Subaru), other parties such as law enforcement that have the equipment can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or EDR.  Existing laws generally provide that information in an EDR is confidential and is the property of the owner of the motor vehicle. Information is accessed through the airbag system using a Subaru service computer.

When anyone is seated or when anything is placed on the front passenger seat, there is a change to that capacitance value. This change in capacitance value is what the Electrostatic Capacitance Sensor ODS uses to determine whether the front passenger seat airbag (SRS) will be ON or OFF. When water or anything with high moisture content is spilled on the front passenger seat cushion, the airbag is designed to remain OFF until the seat cushion is dry. This will also be the case if the passenger has moisture on their clothing, such as rain-soaked pants or rain gear. In each of these situations, the airbag status may remain OFF even if a passenger is seated. Everything that is placed on the seat will affect a change in capacitance value. Plastic, metals and other substances, even if at a heavy weight, will not change the OFF status of an airbag. WHAT IS EYESIGHT
new for 2015 and Optional on 2.0I Limited sedan and Sport Limited models only This is the first time it has been available on an Impreza or Crosstrek. Its the 3rd generation Eyesight (note- 1st gen Eyesight was never offered in the US)   Eyesight is.... > Active Cruise Control- combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead. It issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed. Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. It does not replace conventional cruise control, which can still be used when desired. > Pre-Collision Braking can recognize an impending collision, alert the driver and automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision or minimize the impact when a collision is inevitable. > Pre-Collision Brake Assist-  If Eyesight recognizes an impending collision and the driver is applying the brakes but not with enough force, Pre-Collision Brake Assist automatically applies up to full braking pressure in order to try to shorten braking distances. > Pre-Collision Throttle Management is designed to help prevent drivers from accelerating into a stopped vehicle or other obstacle in front of them. It warns the driver and reduces engine power until he or she applies the brakes to avoid an impact. > Lead Vehicle Start Alert is a helpful EyeSight feature that alerts the driver when his or her vehicle remains stopped after a vehicle in front has started to move away. > Lane Departure Warning alerts drivers when they unintentionally move out of their travel lane. It takes no corrective vehicle action other than issuing visual and audible warnings. Doesn't operate under app 30 mph, or if the steering wheel is turned or turn signals used etc. This function can be turned off and will stay off until turned back on, even if the car is turned off and restarted > Lane Sway Warning acts in a similar way, detecting unusual back and forth vehicle movement within the lane of travel. Doesn't operate under app 38 mph, or if the steering wheel is turned or turn signals used etc. This function can be turned off and will stay off until turned back on, even if the car is turned off and restarted > steering responsive fog lights- included with Eyesight- uses steering wheel position to briefly turn on the left or right fog light to illuminate a corner when the vehicle is turned. The fog lights have to be off for the system to turn them on.  The camera’s field of view is about 35 degrees horizontally from the center of the windshield. The camera’s field of vision extends up to about 360 feet in front of the vehicle, but objects very close to the vehicle may not be detected EyeSight works to recognize obstacles up to about a 30-mph (or less) speed differential. Essentially, EyeSight needs time to recognize an object or potential obstacle. If the speed difference between the EyeSight vehicle and the object is greater than up to 30 mph, the object will likely not be detected. Note- do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue

CVT transmission what is it	This is the 2nd generation 'Lineartronic' Continuously Variable Transmission and is the only automatic transmission available in 2.0L  Impreza models. It was first used in the 2012 Imprezas. What is a Lineartronic CVT transmission?  CVT is an acronym for Continuously Variable Transmission. 'Lineartronic' is Subaru's brand name for their CVT.  CVT is a gearless chain drive transmission that efficiently matches RPMs and power  for better fuel economy because the engine runs at its most efficient RPM over a range of speeds.  The Subaru CVT uses a chain. > Premium and Limited models have steering wheel mounted paddle shifters with 6 selected settings, or 'gears', for drivers who want more control and better performance. > Maintenance: uses Subaru CVT  oil. The oil does not need to be changed unless driven under very hard or frequent towing in which case replace at 25000 miles. PZEV emissions- what is it	What is PZEV, a brief, simple summary All 2015 Imprezas have clean burning PZEV emissions. The EPA says a PZEV is clean running gas engine car based on emissions testing for carbon-containing compounds, oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter, and other tailpipe nastiness. 1. A charcoal canister catches unburned gas left in the engine when it's turned off so it doesn't just evaporate.  2. Fuel injectors that close tighter when they're not in use. 3. A finer mesh in the catalytic converter, as well as optimized placement of its precious metal. 4.  The engine's electronic brain is tuned to run the hot at start up to help the catalytic converter heat up so it can start doing its job faster.
