The big change for 2019 is new or upgraded audio systems with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
Its standard on all WRX and STI models. And the 2019 price increases are small which makes it even more attractive.
It uses your Android or Apple smart phone to put your phone's functions on the audio screen, including voice activated, handsfree map/navigation with search and find functions, your phone's music players, and your voice texting on the audio screen. (No, it doesn't do video, games, word processing or other "non-car smart" things).
Bluetooth is fine and works for handsfree calling, but overall handsfree features and functions are enhanced with Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
This is a giant upgrade and should move the 2019 WRX and STI to the front of a shopping list.
It's the last year for this well-proven version (the 2020 model will be redesigned) and even if its not important to a buyer, having Android Auto and Apple Carplay will certainly have a positive affect on desirability of the used car to the next buyer at time of resale or trade-in.

full 2018 Maintenance Schedule Synthetic 5w-30 Synthetic Oil is required for all turbo engines. Subaru brand oil is available and recommended New Car 1000 mile break-in period keep RPMs under 4000, vary speeds, avoid hard starts/stops Oil Service requires Synthetic 5w-30 oil 1st oil/filter service- replace oil and filter by 6,000 miles or 6 months. Subsequent oil services required at least every 6,000 miles or 6 months. With hard, severe, short trip, cold weather driving replace oil and filter every 3mos/3000 miles from the owner's manual Some engine oil will be consumed while driving. Under the following conditions, oil consumption can be increased and thus require refilling between maintenance intervals: > When the engine is new and within the break-in period > When the engine oil is of lower quality > When the incorrect oil viscosity is used > When engine braking is employed > When the engine is operated at high engine speeds > When the engine is operated under heavy loads > When towing a trailer > When the engine idles for long periods of time > When the vehicle is operated in stop and go and/or heavy traffic situations > When the vehicle is used under severe thermal conditions > When the vehicle accelerates and decelerates frequently > Under these or similar conditions, you should check your oil at least every 2nd fuel fill-up and change your engine oil more frequently. The rubber compound does not maintain elasticity in cold weather. This means the grip level of the tire is less in cold temperatures even on dry pavement. In the cold a summer tire becomes unpredictable and feels slippery when cornering no matter what the weather. This problem is compounded in wet or snowy conditions.
Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert Standard on STI Limited optional on WRX Limited manual with Option Pkg #22 optional on WRX Limited CVT with Option Package #23 This is the 4th year it has been available on a WRX or STI (first year was 2016 model) The Subaru Rear Vision Detection System (SRVD) includes Blind Spot Detection (BSD) Lane Change Assist (warns of vehicles approaching in the next lane) Rear Cross Traffic Alert (warns of vehicles approaching when you're backing out of a parking spot) The Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) system uses two radar units, each mounted underneath the sheet metal immediately below the rear taillights. To help avoid damage, the radar units are purposely mounted above the typical bumper impact line. The radar units send out signals to detect vehicles behind and to each side of the Subaru vehicle, especially those vehicles that might not be visible in the rearview mirrors. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) speeds over 6mph, it will illuminate a warning icon in the exterior mirror when it detects a vehicle alongside and behind the Subaru vehicle in an area of about 22 feet x 11 feet. Lane Change Assist (LCA)- If the driver signals a lane change to that side, the warning icon in the mirror will flash. Lane Change Assist (LCA), at speeds over 6mph, it looks for vehicles farther back in an adjacent lane – about 220 feet behind the Subaru vehicle. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) uses the same radars and sensors to help detect vehicles approaching from the side as the drivers backs up. This is especially helpful when reversing from between two larger vehicles. The driver is alerted by a beeping and flashing icon in the rear view camera display.
2019 Eyesight Driver Assist Technology 4th year this has been available new for 2019 Included and now standard on the WRX Premium CVT Limited CVT Its the 3rd generation Eyesight (note- 1st gen Eyesight was never offered in the US). Its only available on the WRX with CVT transmission 2nd year for Eyesight Assist Monition (EAM), Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH), and High Beam Assist (HBA). > Eyesight Assist Monitor (EAM)- displays Eyesight information using color dots that flash on the inside of the lower left windshield The monitor will shine colored dots (yellow, green, or red) on the inside on the lower left of the windshield indicating what the Eyesight system is doing so you don't have to look down at the dash gauges. Yellow dot means drifting out of lane or lane sway, red dots are emergency, green is active cruise control engaged. > Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH) used the electric parking brake to hold the when stopped in traffic or at a light. The On button is next to the electric parking brake button in the center console. AVH has limitations, drivers seatbelt must be on, and AVH may not work on steep hills, and will turn off and release the car after holding it for 10 minutes. > High Beam Assist (HBA)- a sensor will switch between high and low beams depending on outside light and approaching traffic > Steering responsive LED headlights (low and high beam). Replaces steering responsive fog lights Eyesight for 2019 WRX includes: Steering responsive LED headlights (low and high beam, was new on 2018s) Eyesight Assist Monitor (EAM)- displays Eyesight information on the inside of the windshield (was new on 2018s) Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH) used the electric parking brake to hold the when stopped in traffic or at a light (was new on 2018s) High Beam Assist- a sensor will switch between high and low beams depending on outside light and approaching traffic (was new on 2018s) Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) to help prevent accidents when in reverse at very slow speed (was new on 2017 models) Active cruise control, Lane departure warning Lane Keep Assist Pre-collision warning and Pre-collision braking. > Eyesight models have an electric parking brake > Steering responsive headlight lights uses steering wheel position to briefly turn the light illuminate a corner when the vehicle is turned. Headlights have to be turned on for the system to work. > Active Cruise Control combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead. It issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed. Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. It does not replace conventional cruise control, which can still be used when desired. > Pre-Collision Braking (brake and engine function) can recognize an impending collision, alert the driver and automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a collision or minimize the impact when a collision is inevitable. > Pre-Collision Brake Assist (brake function, from app 7-100 mile per hour)) - If Eyesight recognizes an impending collision and the driver is applying the brakes but not with enough force, Pre-Collision Brake Assist automatically applies up to full braking pressure in order to try to shorten braking distances. > Pre-Collision Throttle Management (engine function) is designed to help prevent drivers from accelerating into a stopped vehicle or other obstacle in front of them. It warns the driver and reduces engine power until he or she applies the brakes to avoid an impact. > Lead Vehicle Start Alert (beep function) is a helpful EyeSight feature that alerts the driver when his or her vehicle remains stopped after a vehicle in front has started to move away, going at least app 10ft > Lane Departure Warning (beep function, over app 30mph) alerts drivers when they unintentionally move out of their travel lane. It takes no corrective vehicle action other than issuing visual and audible warnings. Works over app 30mph > Lane Keep Assist (steering function). It uses the electric power steering to help keep the car from drifting out of the lane on the highway. Using turn signals or deliberately turning the steering wheel overrides this function. If you drive on freeways above app 40-90 miles per hour and the vehcile is about to depart from the lane, the system assists the steering operation by turning it in a direction that will prevent the lane departure. Driver control of the steering wheel, brakes, turn signals and gas pedal will override this steering function. > Lane Sway Warning (beep function, over app 38mph) acts in a similar way, detecting unusual back and forth vehicle movement within the lane of travel. Lane Sway Warning operates at speeds over app 38 mph. > Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB). Sensors in the rear bumper help prevent accidents when in reverse (new on 2017 model) at very very low speed! > Steering responsive LED headlights (low and high beam). New on 2018 model > Eyesight Assist Monitor (EAM)- displays Eyesight information on the inside of the windshield. New on 2018 model > Auto Vehicle Hold (AVH) used the electric parking brake to hold the when stopped in traffic or at a light. New on 2018 model. AVH has limitations, drivers seatbelt must be on, and AVH may not work on steep hills, and will turn off and release the car after holding it for 10 minutes. > High Beam Assist- a sensor will switch between high and low beams depending on outside light and approaching traffic. New on 2018 model Eyesight cars have three windshield washer squirters, with the middle one to clean in front of the cameras. The camera’s field of view is about 35 degrees horizontally from the center of the windshield. The camera’s field of vision extends up to about 360 feet in front of the vehicle, but objects very close to the vehicle may not be detected EyeSight works to recognize obstacles up to about a 30-mph (or less) speed differential. Essentially, EyeSight needs time to recognize an object or potential obstacle. If the speed difference between the EyeSight vehicle and the object is greater than up to 30 mph, the object will likely not be detected. NOTES Eyesight uses two forward facing cameras to see the road ahead, and only works when they can 'see'. Don't block the camera's views, put anything reflective on the dash, hang anything from the rear view mirror, or clean the dash so that it's shiny. Replace the windshield wipers as necessary. The Eyesight cameras will turn off if the windshield fogs up of they can't see for any reason. do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue.
Reverse Auto Braking (RAB) 3rd year for Reverse Auto Brake on the WRX 1st year was the 2017 model Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) is only available on the 2019 WRX Limited CVT with Option Package #24 Reverse Automatic braking will detect an object behind the car, and beep and then actually stop the car if it has time and the car is moving very slowly. RAB is activated when the car is in reverse. Yes, there is an Off setting There are 4 sonar sensors in the rear bumper of the car. It detects objects best between 20-60 inches away from the bumper It beeps as the car approaches the object It stops the car when the vehicle speed in reverse is a very slow 1 to 5 mph. Too fast and the RAB won't have time to stop. If the driver is pressing the gas pedal, the car won't stop. RAB won't detect small objects, thin objects like poles, objects on the ground like rocks or street curbs, or non-sonar reflective objects like cloth or snow, and it won't have time to stop if something darts behind the car like an animal, person, bike or car.	2017 Subaru WRX CVT with reverse automatic braking display in the trip computer showing where the object behind the car is. What is...

HD radio
HD Radio is free. its a digital radio broadcast signal with 'subchannels' of the main FM channel you are listening to.
The ‘HD’ in ‘HD Radio’ is part of iBiquity Digital’s brand name for its digital AM and FM radio technology.
HD is not an acronym for either hybrid digital or high definition, it is simply the name for this technology.
HD Radio broadcasting is free, there are no subscription fees.
The HD channels are not particularly strong, so you might lose the signal in garages or in mountains or downtown between buildings.
The service includes iTunes Tagging which lets you capture information about a song on the radio and store it on your Apple device by pushing the "Tag" button on the HD Radio receiver. When your device is connected to iTunes, a list of tagged songs will appear which can be purchased.

Requires Keyless Access with Pushbutton Start
This is a back-up lock/unlock system so you can lock and unlock the doors when you don't have a keyless access key fob handy.
It can be hard to program and use which is unfortunate.
To use it, you first program in a series or 5 digits by repeatedly pushing the Legacy's trunk lock button the same number of times as each number in the series you select.
To lock/unlock the car, you then tap the trunk button the same number of time as you programmed in.
Its like morse code tap tap tap tap a certain number of times, pause, do it again, pause, for the five numbers.
Or just wrap the key in tin foil or other metal object that blocks the frequency.

How to get a car
inventory, or dealer trade, or ordering

Inventory - Dealers are offered inventory a month or so in advance. The quantity and models can vary from month to month. Most cars will have a extra options or upgrades, features that are popular in the area. Some, but only a few, will not have any extras at all.
Cars in stock are available for immediate purchase and dealers might be more motivated to move them.

"Dealer trade" or "locate". This is when a dealer looks for a vehicle in another local dealer's inventory and then trades cars, ie swaps cars, with that dealer.
This means the requesting dealer has to have a car the other dealer will accept back in trade.
There are many people involved in this process, both at the dealerships, banks which hold the titles to the cars, and at Subaru which tracks the cars.
The vehicle is usually driven from the other location. This can take place within days if a vehicle is already in stock someplace.

Pre-sell, incoming: You wait for a vehicle the dealer already has incoming in their system.

Order:
If you really want a specific vehicle, you can order it. Subaru requires customer information and a deposit.
Once ordered Subaru will give an expected delivery Month.
There will be date, an ETA, an estimated time of arrival. This is not a promise the car will there on a specific day or week and the frequently changes. Your dealer can watch for updates.

Orders are filled as the right model, transmission, and color is available, on a first in basis.
The time is takes to get ban order varies and delays can happen at any point along the assembly and shipping process, so be patient.
If you are requesting a popular car with a waiting list, or an uncommon car, it can take longer.
If a certain individual option or accessory is not available for installation, the car will still be sent to the dealer. The accessory can then be added by the dealer but the cost might change.
The dealer wants you to get your car as quickly as you want to get it!
