Starting September 2018 Subaru is extending the CVT's warranty to 10 years or 100,000 miles (from 5 years or 60,000 miles),
starting at date of first sale on these models

Current owners should receive a letter, or call your local dealer and have your VIN handy.

5/22/17 2017 Outback, Crosstrek and Legacy factory orders end tomorrow 5/23 at 9pm EST.
That's very little advance notice.
If you want a specially equipped 2017 Outback, Crosstrek or Legacy, please order today or tomorrow because after that its too late.
This also means the 2017 model sell-down is right now for best supply and price.
Dealers have a lot of inventory, especially Outbacks and that means they're motivated sellers.
2018 orders will start in late June, with a delivery ETA perhaps of late July but realistically August.
The 2018 Outback, Crosstrek, and Legacy are all getting some excellent upgrades.
The Crosstrek will be all new, a Crosstrek version of the 17 Impreza, and the Outback and Legacy are getting a new front grill, headlights, interior trim and other minor upgrades but the big news is the improved audio systems with Android Auto and Apple Carplay!
If those features are important, then you'll want to wait for the 18s.
No more 2018 details, prices, or specs have been announced yet but they will be available once the orders start.
Subaru will offer financing as the 18s arrive but the rates probably won't be as low as what the 17s have, at least at first, and depending on how many 17s are still on lots.

Subaru released some early teaser info on the 18 Crosstrek that will be shown at the NY Auto show on 4/14 and then go on sale later this summer (Sept?).
There will be a lot more information soon but here are some of the details

Its going to be a good upgrade .... more power, better ride and handling due to the all new and much stiffer platform and slightly larger overall size, Active torque vectoring will improve cornering, Xmode will improve downhill slick road driving, better audio with Android Auto and Carplay, Eyesight gets steering responsive headlights, available Reverse auto brake with back-up beeper (the beeper is the important part), Rear view camera gets visual steering lines to aid backing up, the Tire pressure monitoring will tell you which tire is low, and the Limited finally gets a power driver's seat (but its only 6 way which means no lumbar support).

Not all cars will get all the features but overall it all looks good!
The details will tell the full story but can Subaru keep the price down?

3/7/18 We have to wait until April for details on the US spec 2018 Crosstrek
The European version of the 2018 Crosstrek is called by its original name, the XV, and is at the Geneva Auto Show starting today. There will be some differences between the European and US versions and we'll have to wait for the NY International Auto Show (NAIS) April 14 - Apr 23 for details on our model.
The 18 Crosstrek is a raised up version of the Impreza so there a number of similarities and, like the Impreza, is based on the new global platform.

2/26/17 The 2017 Crosstrek owner's manual doesn't have instructions for calibrating the compass or programming the Homelink functions (if equipped) on the optional auto dimming rear view mirror.

For a newer garage door opener- press and release any Homelink button on the mirror and the round dot light on the mirror should slowly flash orange, then hold the button down on the garage door opener while holding it next to the Homelink button on the mirror you'd like to program and press and hold that homelink button until the flashing orange light turns green, and then release the Homelink button
To test- press the Homelink button and if the light is steady green, it should work. if it rapidly flashes green, then press and hold the Homelink button for TWO SECONDS up to three time to complate the programming.

1/23/17 2018 Crosstrek will be remodeled, based on the new 2017 Impreza.
First showing at the Geneva auto show starting March 7.

11/23/16 Crosstrek Premium with Option Pkg #15 Special Edition production has ended.
Subaru confirms that the production of the pure red or crystal black Premium Pkg #15 Special Edition has ended and no more will be produced. They are available at dealers.
Reportedly it was only 2000 cars total of the red and black colors. Last year it was 1500, all pure red. This is only the Premium Pkg #15 Special Edition, all other Crosstreks continue.

No Power driver's seat on any Crosstrek! The Crosstrek Limited is MSRP $26090, and doesn't have a power seat on the Limited models That's disappointing.
How about adding a heated steering wheel to the 17 Limited. Nope, didn't happen. No heated steering wheel.
I was thinking Subaru would at least put Blind Spot Detection on the Premium models. Didn't happen.
Crosstrek's Eyesight does not include the Lane Keep Assist and Reverse Auto Brake features found on Outback and Forester
There is no good cell phone holder to hold the phone upright. Some people use the cupholder.

EYESIGHT included on Premium with Option Package #14 and Limited with Option Package #23	EYESIGHT Optional on Premium with Option Package #14, and Limited with Option Package #23 This is the 3rd year for Eyesight. It was new on the 2015 Crosstrek Its the 3rd generation Eyesight (note- 1st gen Eyesight was never offered in the US). It includes Steering responsive fog lights Active cruise control, Lane departure warning, Pre-collision warning and Pre-collision braking. (Note: 2017 Crosstrek Eyesight does not include the Lane Keep Assist and Reverse Automatic Brake features found on Outback and Forester) > Steering responsive fog lights uses steering wheel position to briefly turn on the left or right fog light to illuminate a corner when the steering wheel is turned. Headlights in 'auto' setting and fog lights off for the system to work. > Active Cruise Control combines the benefits of cruise control with active monitoring of the road ahead. It issues warnings and activates automatic braking when needed. Adaptive Cruise Control can regulate vehicle speed in order to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. Notes Eyesight uses two forward facing cameras to see the road ahead, and only works when they can 'see'. Don't block the camera's views, put anything reflective on the dash, hang anything from the rear view mirror, or clean the dash so that it's shiny. Replace the windshield wipers as necessary. The Eyesight cameras will turn off if the windshield fogs up or if they can't see for any reason. do not touch or try to clean the EyeSight camera lenses. It is imperative that extra precaution be used when cleaning the inside of the windshield, because over-spray from cleaners may impair or even damage the cameras’ lenses, which is not a warranty issue. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Vehicle Detection System standard on Limiteds incl on Premium with Option Package #14, #15	Blind Spot Detection and Rear Vehicle Detection System (rear cross traffic alert) was new on the 2016 model standard on all Limiteds included on Premium with Option Pkg #14 (eyesight, blind spot detection) and Option Pkg #15 Special Edition ************************************************************** package includes > Blind Spot Detection (BSD) (detects a vehicle alongside and slightly to the rear of you), > Lane Change Assist (warns of vehicles approaching in the next lane), > Rear Cross Traffic Alert (warns of vehicles approaching when you're backing out of a parking spot). The Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD) system uses two radar units, each mounted underneath the bumper skin, just below the rear taillights. To help avoid damage, the radar units are purposely mounted above a typical bumper impact line. The radar units send out signals to detect vehicles behind and to each side of the Subaru vehicle, especially those vehicles that might not be visible in the rearview mirrors. Lane Change Assist (LCA) looks for vehicles farther back in an adjacent lane – about 220 feet behind the Subaru vehicle. If the vehicle detected is approaching quickly – at a speed that could bring it alongside the Subaru vehicle within a few seconds – Lane Change Assist will illuminate a warning icon in the exterior mirror on that side. If the driver signals a lane change, the warning icon in the mirror will flash rapidly. Blind Spot Detection (BSD) is standard on Limiteds, optional on Premiums. It will illuminate a warning icon in the exterior mirror when it detects a vehicle alongside and behind the Subaru vehicle in an area of about 22 feet x 11 feet. If the driver signals a lane change to that side, the warning icon in the mirror will flash. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) uses the same radars and sensors to help detect vehicles that cannot be seen by the driver as they approach from either side. This is especially helpful when reversing from between two larger vehicles. The driver is alerted by a flashing icon in the appropriate exterior mirror as well as an audible alert

WHAT IS HD RADIO
Digital radio broadcast signal for improved clarity
The ‘HD’ in ‘HD Radio’ is part of iBiquity Digital’s brand name for its digital AM and FM radio technology.
It does not mean either 'hybrid digital' or 'high definition'.
HD Radio broadcasting is free, there are no fees.
You can get digital AM and FM stations, including HD2 and HD3 multicast channels.
HD is your favorite local AM and FM stations broadcasting digitally, producing improved clean sound.
Radio station subchannels give you more selection
The service includes iTunes Tagging. iTunes Tagging lets you capture information about a song on the radio and store it on your iPod by pushing the "Tag" button on the HD Radio receiver. When your iPod is connected to iTunes, a list of tagged songs will appear which can be purchased.

There are 3 SiriusXM staffed call centers in the U.S. (in Texas and Utah)

AT&T provides the cellular service for emergency (red SOS button) and user requested roadside assistance (blue button) services via an integrated 4G phone connection. The phone has a lithium backup battery so it has power in the event of an accident. The red and blue buttons are in the overhead console. The car does need to be in an area with AT&T cell coverage for the connection to work (check coverage at http://att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html).

Sirius/XM provides the telematics

Android and Apple phones use the Starlink app for infotainment, and then either the MySubaru app or online at MySubaru.com for connected vehicle services and account information.
So if you have an iphone or android, download both the Subaru Starlink and MySubaru apps

The supply of Crosstreks is tight and just like with all Imprezas there are more buyers than cars.
Dealers get a limited number of cars each month.
They have an Incoming report and you can put your name on one of the incoming cars.
As a result, many incoming cars will be sold before they arrive.
That means a factory order might be the way to get the exact car and features you want.
Factory orders will be filled from your dealer's normal allocation of Crosstreks,
When first ordered, the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) will probably be a 'month of...' that is around 3-4 months out from the order date.
The order will then be filled as available but it will probably be in the 2-3 month window.
Your dealer can also try to locate or find a suitable car for you at another dealer who is willing to swap Crosstreks.
Be patient, the dealer will want you get your car as quickly as possible.
