Brief WRX history: The 2002 227hp Impreza WRX finally arrived in the US/Canada in March 2001.
A turbo-charged all wheel drive sedan or
wagon, the WRX has been a top World Rally car since it's inception.
Introduced in 1993, the Impreza has consistently
been top rated and there were few major changes
until the 2002 models.

Rumors have it at 300 per month for
the entire USA, and there are almost 600 dealers, so no dealer will
get a lot
Prices are not yet available, but rumors have them between $32-35,000
Subaru says: "The 2.5-liter turbocharged
powerplant is the largest displacement engine ever installed in a WRX STi
model and is exclusive to the North American market.
It is the most powerful 4-cylinder engine
available in the US.
Until now, STi-badged Subaru vehicles
had been available only in select world markets.
The success of the WRX prompted strong
demand from American consumers for an even more extreme-performance version
of this car. As a result, the U.S.-market Impreza WRX STi gives up nothing
compared to models offered in Europe, Japan and other markets and in some
ways offers more performance."
