Hi - recently picked up a 99 Impreza outback sport for my son who just started college. I bought it fairly cheap knowing it had an engine knock. It has a 2.2L 4 cyl engine. Not sure if I need a whole new engine yet -- having a guy look at it this weekend hopefully. Had no idea when I bought it that this engine was so popular because kids buy them to supe up their little cars & I can't find one to save my life. If anyone has engine parts or a full 2.2L engine for sale to fit the car, I would love to hear from you.

Hi and Image That particular model year 2.2L might be tricky to find since '99 started the phase II 2.2L. If it is popular among tuners it might be because it is somewhat easy to bolt on a turbo and the 2.2L has a little more margin of ability to handle it vs. the 2.5L.

www.car-part.com is a popular place to search salvage parts
www.ccrengines.com remanufactures Subaru engines; they are not cheap but they seemt o have a good reputation in the soob community.

Hello, glad to hear it. Endwrench unfortunately is now defunct. It has been purchased by a domain squatter so now none of the PDF's are available.
