Subaru's year in review
a few high and low points according to me and subject to hindsight and frequent revision

good- 09 Forester- everything about it-

good- Subaru is one of only a few companies with good sales volume for the year. Thanks go to the redesigned Forester for being a right car at the right time and making the year.

good- 09 WRX comes out swinging with more power, suspension and body upgrades. But what's with those summer tires? They even confused SoA who put out incorrect window stickers at first.
and bad- 08 STI sells well but with 0% and $5000 dealer bonus cash. Will SoA upgrade the STI in the near future?

bad- no word on a diesel or anything else that might get 30++ mpg
and good- gas prices go back down (and people quickly forget)

good- Subaru WRX does well at the X Games in LA
and bad- Fuji pulls out of the WRC but SoA will still help sponsor US drivers

good- 09 Forester is Motor Trend SUV of the year
good- advertising, Subaru goes back to it's roots with a Love Your Subaru ad campaign. Now where's Paul Hogan!
good- Crash tests results. The Tribeca, Legacy, Forester, and Impreza all get Top Safety Picks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS.org).
just plain silly- for changing the name of the basic Outback model 3 years in a row (2007 Outback Basic > 2008 Outback > 2009 Outback 2.5i Zzzz).
good - only a few recalls and fixes over the last 12 months.

bad- a car company nibbles at Fuji, buying another piece of the company
and good- the company is Toyota- couldn't ask for a better partner

good and bad- overall 08 was a good year for a well run car company that makes good cars. Subaru is a cool company that still makes interesting cars, and even offers funny things like optional footwell lighting etc

and finally .. a tip of the hat for the hard working folks at Fuji who lost jobs through no fault of their own.

hehe yes Subaru is cream of the crop in my opinion for passenger vehicles.

You got that right.......much better than their previous estranged interest.....who shall remain nameless. ...also SIA's building of the Camry I think is very good.

No question, for me if it isn't a Subaru it's a Toyota. The Camry is the best sedan around IMHO. Way back and long ago it was Datsun that ruled, esp the the little pick up and 521 sedan. Will have tio wait and see what happens with the Toyota-Subaru coupe - it's been delayed until 2012 I understand
